The ECO Foundation, established by ECO Canada, is dedicated to empowering the next generation of environmental leaders. Our scholarships support post-secondary students pursuing studies in environmental science, sustainability, clean technology, and related fields.

Through these awards, we aim to reduce financial barriers, foster inclusion, and inspire innovation in Canada’s growing green economy.

Our Purpose

Canada’s transition to a sustainable future requires new skills, ideas, and diverse perspectives.

The ECO Foundation Scholarship Program is designed to:
• Support talented students committed to environmental and sustainability careers.
• Promote equity and access for underrepresented groups, including Indigenous students, women, and new Canadians.
• Encourage academic excellence and innovation in clean and blue technologies.
• Align educational support with real labor market needs in Canada’s green economy.

Scholarship Categories

Our scholarships celebrate excellence, leadership, and community impact. Each year, awards are offered across several categories:

Environmental Leadership Scholarship

For students demonstrating outstanding leadership in sustainability projects.

Focus Area: Sustainability & Community Action

Celebrates students leading impactful sustainability or climate projects in their schools and communities.

Indigenous Environmental Stewardship Scholarship​

For Indigenous students pursuing environment-related programs.

Focus Area: Indigenous Knowledge & Land Protection

Supports Indigenous students advancing stewardship of lands, waters, and ecosystems.

Women in Sustainability Scholarship​

Supporting women advancing studies or research in environmental fields.

Focus Area: Gender Equity & Environmental Studies

Empowers women pursuing education or research in environmental and sustainability disciplines.

Clean Technology & Innovation Scholarship​

For students exploring climate and clean-tech solutions.

Focus Area: Climate Tech & Green Engineering

Recognizes innovators developing clean energy, carbon, or circular economy solutions.

Blue Economy & Marine Sustainability Scholarship ​

For studies focused on oceans, fisheries, and coastal systems.

Land Acknowledgment

In the spirit of respect, reciprocity and truth, we honour and acknowledge Moh’kinsstis and the traditional Treaty 7 territory and oral practices of the Blackfoot confederacy: Siksika, Kainai, Piikani, as well as the Îyâxe Nakoda and Tsuut’ina nations.
